A little update - Easter-Time 2008 …
It’s been a fun week. We (baby and I) have been busy doing the normal activities, Dog walking, Physio, two Aqua Aerobics classes and Pilates - but we’ve also done some different stuff which I’d like to tell you about…
Last Wednesday, to celebrate baby being 6 months old (and because Paul had free tickets from the organisation that he does conservation diving with) we went to the IMAX cinema to watch ‘Dolphins and Whales’ in 3D. Now, although the baby didn’t have the best seat in the house for the view (or a pair of 3D glasses for that matter!) I have to say that s/he really liked the whale songs and the dolphin eeks, much to our amusement as my tummy kept changing shape. We had a lovely evening and also enjoyed a walk around Darling Harbour afterwards followed by a Japanese dinner.
On Friday we went to see Dr. Symington the Obstetrician for a check up. It was a good visit. We heard baby McCormack’s loud heartbeat, then the Dr prodded and ‘held’ baby through my abdomen wall before measuring me from my Pubus bone to where my ribs join in the middle - which was 27.5cm’s. The exact amount of weeks old the baby was at the time ! Isn’t science fun? Apparently after week 25 that measurement increases 1cm for every week of pregnancy … !
Later the same day, we met Paul for lunch near his office with Janna and her boyfriend Paul. They’d just flown in from Kuala Lumpur (where they now live) for a wedding in Sydney. It was nice to see them.
At the weekend we had a night away in the Blue Mountains, with a fabulous drive through the mountains villages. Matt and Cam have bought a cottage up there. It was really lovely and relaxing. There was lots of laughter and hilarity and it really was great for us all to get away together. (Wellington seemed to enjoy himself too.)
There’s more news. I’ve dyed my hair brown - close to my natural colour. Derryn the hairdresser came to our house on Monday. We’re diverting the ‘being blonde maintenance-money’ to baby funds and expenses. All the girls at Aqua class loved it, and luckily Paul says it looks really nice too. Here I am …

Finally, the last piece of news from the week is I managed to finish my 3rd Pilates class on Tuesday without fainting, so things are on the up-and-up there. Although considerably slower and less agile, the strengthening exercises are definitely helping me. And the Physio lady is pleased with ‘our’ progress.
So - an eventful week 27 - and a slower week 28 ahead of us. The baby will be 32cm’s from crown to rump and weigh about 1.1kg’s (366 jelly beans) by the end of it, it’s job from now to week 40 is to get fatter and rounder, and work on it’s muscle tone.
Over and out !
